Quran: Surah At-Tawbah 9:129; Sunan Abu Dawud 5081

حَسْبِيَ ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ عَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُۖ وَهُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Hasbiya Allahu la ilaha illa huwa 'alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbul 'arshil 'azim.

English Meaning

Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.

আল্লাহ্ আমার জন্য যথেষ্ট, তিনি ব্যতীত অন্য কোনো উপাস্য নেই, তাঁরই উপরে আমি নির্ভর করেছি এবং তিনিই মহান আরশের অধিপতি।

Significance & Context

The Prophet ﷺ instructed that whoever recites this seven times morning and evening with conviction, Allah will suffice him in all his concerns of this world and the next. These were among the last Quranic words revealed regarding the Prophet ﷺ himself, making this a pinnacle expression of tawakkul.

Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.

رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا. إِنَّهَا سَاءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَمُقَامًا

Rabbanasrif anna adhaba jahannama inna adhabaha kana gharama. Innaha sa'at mustaqarran wa muqama.

Our Lord! Keep the punishment of Hell away from us. Its punishment is indeed a constant torment — it is truly the worst place to settle and reside.

رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا أَنْتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ

Rabbana wa la tuhammilna ma la taqata lana bihi; wa'fu anna waghfir lana warhamna, anta mawlana fansurna alal qawmil kafirin.

Our Lord! Do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Master, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people.
