اللّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَعَافِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي

Transliteration

Allahummaghfir li warhamni wahdini wa 'afini warzuqni.

English Meaning

O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant well-being and provide for me.

হে আল্লাহ! আমাকে ক্ষমা করুন, দয়া করুন, হেদায়েত দিন, নিরাপত্তা দিন এবং রিজিক দিন।

Significance & Context

Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه) reported that a man once came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him to teach a supplication. The Prophet ﷺ taught him this five-part dua combining forgiveness, mercy, guidance, well-being (aafiya), and provision — making it a complete supplication for both spiritual and worldly needs. The Prophet ﷺ placed his fingers together as he taught it, saying these five words contain all the good of this world and the next.

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيْكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ، وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، يُحْيِيْ وَيُمِيْتُ، وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لاَ يَمُوْتُ، بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu, wa huwa hayyul la yamut, biyadihil khayru, wa huwa ala kulli shay-in qadir.

There is no god worthy of worship but Allah alone, with no partner. His is all sovereignty and to Him belongs all praise. He gives life and causes death. He is Ever-Living and never dies. In His hand is all good and He is able to do all things.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal hammi wal hazan, wal ajzi wal kasal, wal bukhli wal jubn, wa dala'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.

O Allah! I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men.

Supplication for the deceased in Janazah prayer

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ

Allahummaghfir lahu warhamhu wa afihi wa'fu anhu wa akrim nuzulahu wa wassi' mudkhalahu waghsilhu bil-mai was-salji wal-barad.

O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, grant him well-being, pardon him. Honour his arrival, expand his entrance, wash him with water, snow, and hail.
