Hadith: Sahih al-Bukhari 1080

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ / سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ

Transliteration

Allahu Akbar / Subhan Allah.

English Meaning

Allah is the Greatest (Upon ascending) / Allah is free from imperfection (Upon descending).

বাংলা অর্থ

আল্লাহ সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ (উঁচুতে ওঠার সময়) / আল্লাহ পবিত্র-মহান (নিচে নামার সময়)।

Significance & Context

Declaring 'Allahu Akbar' when physically ascending reminds the ego that regardless of elevation, the Divine remains superior. 'Subhan Allah' during descent negates any concept of lowliness from the Creator.

Dua when leaving the home

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

Bismillahi, tawakkaltu alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.

In the name of Allah, I put my trust in Allah, and there is no might or power except with Allah.

Hadith: Abu Dawood 5095; Tirmidhi 3426

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Subhanal-ladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin. Wa inna ila rabbina lamunqalibun.

Glory be to the One Who has subjected this to us, and we were not capable of subduing it. And indeed, to our Lord we will surely return.
