Significance & Context

The second verse of Surah Al-Ikhlas, identified in spiritual tradition as an independent Isme Azam. Surah Al-Ikhlas was revealed in response to polytheists demanding the Prophet ﷺ describe Allah's lineage — the answer was one of the most theologically comprehensive statements ever revealed. As-Samad: the absolutely impenetrable, self-sufficient reality on which all creation depends for every moment of existence, yet who requires nothing from creation. Regular recitation builds psychological invulnerability — attaching one's fragile existence to the only immovable reality in the cosmos.
