Anas ibn Malik (RA) — Supplication via Creation & Bestowal

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ بَدِيعُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ يَا حَىُّ يَا قَيُّومُ

Transliteration

Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-anna lakal-hamd, la ilaha illa ant, al-mannanu badi'us-samawati wal-ard, ya dhal-jalali wal-ikram, ya hayyu ya qayyum.

English Meaning

O Allah, I ask You by virtue of all praise being Yours; there is no deity except You, the Bestower, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, O Lord of Majesty and Splendour, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of existence.

বাংলা অর্থ

হে আল্লাহ! আমি তোমার কাছে প্রার্থনা করছি, কারণ সকল প্রশংসা তোমারই। তুমি ছাড়া কোনো উপাস্য নেই, তুমি পরম দয়ালু দাতা, আসমান ও জমিনের অপূর্ব সৃষ্টিকর্তা, হে মহিমাময় ও মহানুভব, হে চিরঞ্জীব, হে চিরস্থায়ী।

Significance & Context

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (RA), the Prophet ﷺ was in the mosque when a man finished his prayer with these words. The Prophet ﷺ explicitly identified this as containing the Isme Azam — the Greatest Name by which, when asked, Allah gives, and when called upon, He responds. The dua's genius lies in invoking al-Mannan (the Bestower who gives without condition) alongside Badi'us-Samawat (the One who created the cosmos from nothing). The same power that willed the universe into existence can just as easily will a solution into the supplicant's situation.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

Allahu la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum.

Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence.

Asma bint Yazid (RA) — Supplication via Mercy & Sustenance

وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ الرَّحِيمُ — الم اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

Wa ilahukum ilahun wahid, la ilaha illa Huwar-Rahmanur-Rahim — Alif Lam Meem, Allahu la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum.

And your god is one God; there is no deity except Him, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful — Alif Lam Meem. Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence.
