Significance & Context

This phrase appears twice in Surah Ar-Rahman (55:27 & 55:78) as the definitive conclusion to Allah's enumeration of His favours. The Prophet ﷺ commanded: 'Persist in reciting Ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram.' Several distinguished scholars hold this standalone phrase as the Isme Azam. It encapsulates the entirety of the spiritual experience: Al-Jalal (awe-inspiring majesty, instilling khawf/reverential fear) balanced perfectly against Al-Ikram (beauty, generosity, honour — instilling raja'/hope).
